Carmelo Anthony will join the injury-depleted Trail Blazers on the team's upcoming road trip after Portland signed the future Hall of Fame forward to a non-guaranteed 1-year deal Thursday, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Portland Trail Blazers are set to sign veteran forward Carmelo Anthony to a non-guaranteed deal, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

Anthony last featured in the NBA for the Houston Rockets in November 2018. He made 10 appearances, averaging 13.4 points, during his short stint in Houston before falling out of favor.

Though Anthony is unlikely to improve Portland’s 22nd-ranked defense, the Blazers will hope that the low-risk move can give them another offensive option behind leading scorers Damian Lillard (30.5 ppg) and CJ McCollum (20.1 ppg). Anthony, a 10-time All-Star, is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, ranking 19th all-time with 25,551 points over 1,064 career appearances.

Anthony, who is 6-foot-8, can play at both the small forward and power forward positions, but is likely to slot into a power forward role with the Blazers, who have struggled since losing power forward Zach Collins to shoulder surgery in late October.

The Blazers had championship aspirations heading into the 2019-20 season after making a run to the Western Conference finals last spring, but Portland has struggled early in the year. The Blazers are off to a disappointing 4-8 start and are about to embark on a six-game road trip.

Anthony is expected to join the Blazers on their upcoming road trip, according to Wojnarowski.
