But it’s rare that you get validation that your husband is the most attractive man on the planet. On Nov. 12, supermodel Chrissy Tiegen learned that she might not be the hottest person in her relationship as People named her husband John Legend the Sexiest Man Alive.

How does John Legend feel about being the Sexiest Man Alive?

Being given the title of Sexiest Man Alive is a lot of pressure, especially when you look at the men who have previously held the title.

“I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure,” Legend told People. “Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m [also] following Idris Elba, which is not fair and is not nice to me!”

Why was John Legend chosen?

Being the Sexiest Man Alive is about a lot more than just looks. Legend is also extremely talented. Last year, he became one of only 15 stars to ever reach EGOT level, which means that he has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. Basically, Legend is a master of everything.

And he’s also just as beautiful on the inside.

“My father taught me about character,” he told the outlet. “He taught us by example. He always conducted himself with such grace and dignity. My parents always taught me that if you’re going to succeed in life, part of success is having humility. It’s a good way to live life, treating other people the way you want to be treated.”

The humility and good nature that make Legend so attractive could come from the fact that he is genuinely happy.

“I’m so proud that I have a wife and two kids I’m so in love with and so connected to,” he continued. “I’m also so proud of my career. I love writing songs and performing on stage. I get a lot of joy from it and give a lot of joy to other people. I’m pretty at ease with myself now!”

How does Chrissy Teigen feel about John Legend’s new title?

Some people might be intimidated by being married to someone with such a big title, but not Teigen. The model is actually overjoyed.

“My secret is out,” she tweeted. “I have fulfilled my dream of having boned PEOPLE’s sexiest man alive!! An honor!!!!!”

She was also ready to defend her man should anyone complain about his new title.

“I cannot WAIT for people to get mad about John being the sexiest man alive,” she wrote. “It’s my new Starbucks holiday cup.”

And she absolutely could not get enough of calling her husband the sexiest man alive.

“The sexiest man alive just made me a ham sandwich,” she tweeted later.

To top it all off, she changed her Twitter bio to “currently sleeping with People’s sexiest man alive.”
