The second CFP rankings come out tonight and we will have several questions answered, including some about the Ohio State football team.

Who’s ready for the second installment of the College Football Playoff rankings to be released tonight? There was plenty of action over the weekend, including the Ohio State football team’s shellacking for Maryland, and tonight we get some answers.

The obvious question everyone is asking about is who will be ranked No. 1, but I want to dive deeper. Here are three things to keep an eye on that could ultimately impact the final rankings.

How far does Alabama fall?

Alabama has been the golden child of the playoffs. They have successfully made the CFP every year since it came into existence during the 2014-15 season. Nick Saban has seemingly been right where he wants to be for the past 10-plus years. But what about now?

Alabama lost the biggest game on their schedule to LSU on Saturday and the only other ranked team on their schedule is No. 11 Auburn. Will that be enough to get them into the top four?

Alabama has all but lost the chance to play for an SEC title, which would have given them another chance to win over a ranked team. With only one win against a ranked opponent, I’m not sure they have a real shot at being in the CFP unless chaos ensues.

The committee can give us a clearer picture tonight, however. Will they be slotted at No. 4 ahead of Georgia, Oregon, Utah and Oklahoma, or does Alabama get the ax and end up behind that group?

Each one of those teams has a worse loss, but a chance to win their conference. I know the committee doesn’t look ahead, but I want to see if those teams have a chance to jump Alabama, or if the playoff spot is theirs to lose.
