Each Saturday night throughout the season, I rank the 10 best teams in the country. The order fluctuates from week to week based on new information.

And on the 11th Saturday, we got some clarity. I’m pretty sure I know who the top three teams are this season.

1. LSU (9-0)

First it was Florida, then Auburn, then Alabama. Surely someone would finally slow down LSU’s lethal offense, right? Nope. “They have no weaknesses on offense,” Nick Saban said after watching Joe Burrow throw for 393 yards (and run for another 64) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire run for 103 in the Tigers’ seminal 46-41 victory in Tuscaloosa. If 6-3 Texas enters the CFP rankings this week, LSU will have four Top 25 wins.

2. Ohio State (9-0)

No Chase Young, no problem against overmatched Maryland, which the Buckeyes dispatched 73-14 on Saturday. Ohio State doesn’t have the résumé to merit keeping it above LSU, but there’s no disputing its continued dominance. Which...
