The University of Alabama is making preparations for President Donald Trump to attend Saturday’s Alabama-LSU game at Bryant-Denny Stadium according to a Sports Illustrated report.
Officials at the Alabama athletics department, reached for contact by The Tuscaloosa News, would neither confirm nor deny the reports.
Trump has attended an Alabama game once in his presidency, the January 2018 national championship game between Alabama and Georgia at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The presidential party departed from that game at halftime.
Trump has attended other sporting events of late, visiting Nationals Park for Game 5 of the World Series on Oct. 27 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros. Trump also made an appearance at this weekend’s UFC 244 on Saturday at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Any presidential visit complicates the logistics involving traffic and security, compounding — if it occurs — what was already expected to be a record crowd in town for the crucial game between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama. As UA has yet to confirm the visit, no logistical updates have been released but Trump’s visit to Atlanta for the 2018 title game caused street closings and lengthy waits at many entrances to accommodate enhanced security measures.
ESPN’s “College GameDay” and the SEC Network’s “SEC Nation” will also be on campus on Saturday. UA
has issued a release regarding the logistics of those broadcast locations.

The stage will be set up on the lawn by Denny Chimes.
Show airs from 8-11 a.m. CT with live SportsCenter hits beginning at 6 a.m.

Attendees who enter the Pit area will be screened and must adhere to all of ESPN’s rules for this area, including: no food or drink and bag checks and inspection of all signs (signs are not permitted to display: vulgar, political or religious symbols; signs cannot promote outside brands or websites)
Marty & McGee and SEC Nation
The stage will be set up on the lawn of Moore Hall (across University Boulevard).
Shows air from 8-11 a.m. CT, starting first with Marty and McGee from 8-9 a.m. followed by Nation from 9-11 a.m.
