FSU football made the move to fire Willie Taggart Sunday after its third consecutive loss against Miami. Here’s 3 reasons it was the right move.

I really wanted Willie Taggart to succeed with FSU football. It was clear the guy was a true fan of the university at his dream job.

If you’ve been reading my work for a while you’d probably consider me to lean towards pro-Taggart. Heck I even wrote he deserved a third year in Tallahassee after the Virginia game provided the season didn’t go off the rails.

Well, that’s what a loss against a mediocre Miami team and a loss to Wake Forest will do. At the end of the day it’s about wins and losses more so than being a fan or a good guy.

Willie Taggart is as classy as they come and handled everything off the field as well as one could ask for.

The fan base felt betrayed by the former coach and Taggart came in with renewed energy and a promise to get FSU football back to prominence.

He had support from the fans as evident of the 50,000 fans who showed up for the 2018 spring game. However, it was FSU’s performance against Virginia Tech in the first game that set the tone.

Think of it like a woman going on a date with a guy that throws up all over himself because the food didn’t agree with him.

It wasn’t necessarily his fault, but it’s a tough first impression to overcome and he was never able to do it for whatever reason. I do think this year’s team would smoke the 2018 team, but ultimately it’s not enough improvement overall.
