FOXBORO — Last week, the Patriots placed Josh Gordon on injured reserve.

On Thursday, they said goodbye.

The Patriots waived Gordon because in Bill Belichick’s words Gordon had returned to health, which per league rules would require the team to release him off IR.

“He passed his physical,” Belichick said Friday.

Gordon was claimed on waivers Friday afternoon by the Seahawks. He isn’t eligible to play this weekend.

Gordon had been dealing with a bone bruise on his knee, which worsened when he attempted to make a tackle in Week 6 against the Giants. Gordon left the game and did not play another snap for the Pats. He had fluid drained from the same knee weeks earlier.

As Gordon worked his way back to health, he believed he could play at a high level soon. The Patriots did not and opted to release him, with first-round rookie wide receiver N’Keal Harry eligible to come off IR this week.

Belichick was uninterested in expounding upon his time with Gordon on Friday.

“Yeah, I mean, that’s all in the past. I’m looking to Baltimore at this point,” he said. “There have been a lot of guys that have been here in the last year-and-a-half.”
