UFC heavyweight Walt Harris has decided to drop out of his upcoming fight against Alistair Overeem in the main event at UFC on ESPN 7 from Washington D.C. on Dec. 7.

The decision comes just over a week after Harris’ stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard went missing near Auburn, Ala., with authorities still searching for answers regarding her whereabouts.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Friday with Harris opting to focus on his family at this time. The news was first reported by MMA Junkie.

Harris first called for help in searching for his missing stepdaughter this past week after she disappeared late in the evening on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Blanchard, who is a student at Southern Union Community College, spoke to a friend that evening and was later spotted at a convenience store as confirmed by Auburn Police in a surveillance video that was released.

Blanchard’s car was found two days later on Oct. 25 in an apartment complex in Montgomery, Ala. Police verified on Thursday that forensic information found in the vehicle leads them to believe that Blanchard was likely harmed and the victim of foul play.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey along with several prominent figures from the mixed martial arts community including UFC president Dana White, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and fight manager Ali Abdelaziz have offered significant sums of money as a reward for information that would help authorities find Blanchard.

As of now, the search continues and Harris will focus on his family while the UFC will move forward with a new main event for the upcoming card in December.
