At least four people are dead following a late-night shooting during a private Halloween party late Thursday in an Orinda neighborhood, according to authorities.

Update 8:45 a.m. EDT Nov. 1: Officials with the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday morning that four people were killed and several injured in Thursday night's shooting in Orinda.

Witnesses told KNTV shots rang out around 11 p.m. at a home that was being rented through Airbnb. Authorities continue to investigate.

Original report:  According to station, an unconfirmed number of other guests were wounded, but their conditions are not known.

Witnesses at the scene told KNTV the shooting happened about 11 p.m. during a Halloween party at an Airbnb rental.

Meanwhile, a neighbor of the Lucille Way home where the shootings took place told KTVU he heard gunfire coming from the house and later spoke with the owner who confirmed the home was being rented for a private party.

Orinda Police Department and Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff are working a multiple shooting in Orinda. Investigation is active. Details coming later.
