Kate Upton, super model and wife to Astros pitcher Justin Verlander, hit back at harsh internet critics on Twitter after she tweeted out in support of a controversial call made during game 6 of the World Series Tuesday night.

She posted online after the umpires called the Washington Nationals’ Trea Turner out in the seventh inning. Officials say Turner interfered with Astros pitcher Brad Peacock’s throw to first-baseman Yuli Gurriel.

The review for the incident took several long minutes to decide, and ultimately was in favor of the Astros, and Turner was out.

The Nationals protested the call, and as the tension began to rise inside and outside of Minute Maid Park, even Nationals’ manager Dave Martinez was thrown out of the game for arguing with the umpires.

“He wasn’t within the base path. Those who don’t know the rule you HAVE to run inside the 2 lines. Not sure why the review is taking so long…” Upton tweeted.

The tweet quickly took off with thousands of replies criticizing her knowledge of the game and other harsh comments.

Upton then retweeted a post from Jon Morosi of the MLB Network who tweeted the rule that was applied to the call made by umpires.

As the critical comments and mean words kept flowing into Upton’s Twitter notifications, she tweeted: “I LOVE talking about sports and reading all of the dumb misogynist comments. It reminds me that women need to keep fighting for equality. It’s 2019 but feels like the 1950s. #feminist.”

It could be the most controversial call of the World Series thus far. Many tweeted out that the rule regarding the call was not made often, but was still a rule nonetheless, and others were angry for the call being made at all.

The game ended with the Nationals winning 7-2, forcing a game 7 at Minute Maid Park on Wednesday night.
