Joe Biden's presidential campaign hit back at questions about his age and health, branding concerns "baseless lies."

“These are baseless lies meant to stoke fear in their viewers. It has no place in our public discourse, and anyone amplifying it bears some responsibility for giving it legitimacy it most certainly does not deserve,” TJ Ducklo, Biden's national press secretary, told the Daily Beast.

Lisa Montgomery — known mononymously as "Kennedy" — of Fox Business Network and Sean Hannity of Fox News were singled out. Last week, Kennedy speculated that Biden’s campaign staff might want to keep him “off a main stage” because he says "stupid things and he slurs." She added that Biden “does look very tired.”

Before and after the Delaware Democrat declared his presidential campaign, members of the media on both the Left and Right have questioned whether the former vice president was too old to run for president.

Biden, 76, considered his age a "dilemma" before declaring his run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, consulting with friends and family about whether they thought he was too old to be president.

In April, President Trump, 73, said he was a "young, vibrant man" in comparison to Biden. "I am a young, vibrant man. I look at Joe, I don't know about him ... I would never say anyone is too old. But they are all making me look very young both in terms of age and in terms of energy," Trump said.

Among the two dozen competitors, Biden is the current front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination with 33.6% support according to RealClearPolitics poll average.
