Major League Baseball is investigating a tweet from a longtime umpire who said there would be a “cival war” if the House moves to impeach President Trump.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed to ESPN that the organization is involved in the incident, which began when umpire Rob Drake, 50, tweeted late Tuesday that he was going to buy an AR-15 rifle “because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!! #MAGA2020”

Longtime umpire Bob Drake (@thedrake30) tweeted Tuesday that he planned to buy an assault rifle "because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!!.” He then deleted it. The MLB said the league is looking into the tweet. https://t.co/lUy5w2mMYs

The tweet was soon deleted, and Bell deactivated his Twitter account Wednesday. The tweet was preceded by another one about the ongoing impeachment inquiry into Trump and read, “You can’t do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?”

Drake began work in the MLB in 1999 and has been a full-time major league umpire since 2010. He worked the 2013 All-Star Game, the 2010 and 2014 Division Series, and two League Championship Series.
