La Liga leaders Barcelona are in midweek action as they take on a struggling Getafe side in Catalonia on Wednesday night.

Hansi Flick has enjoyed quite the start to his Barca tenure having succeeded Xavi at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. The German has been forced to deal with an ever-growing injury list, but he's nonetheless overseen six victories from six to start the new La Liga season.

A 2-1 defeat in Monaco is the only blemish on their otherwise perfect record, with Barca already securing notable away wins at Girona and Villarreal.

Getafe are still led by Jose Bordalas, who guided the club into Europe during his first stint, but his second spell in charge has been more of a struggle. His side ended 2023/24 woefully, and that poor form has permeated into the new season. Getafe currently sit 18th in La Liga and are one of just two winless teams in the division through six games.

Here is 90min's guide to Barcelona vs Getafe.

There have been positive updates regarding Gavi and Frenkie de Jong over the past week or so with both players returning to training, but Barca's injury woes worsened at the weekend as Marc-Andre ter Stegen succumbed to a serious knee injury.

The German is now expected to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines and Flick will have to call upon Inaki Pena between the posts.

Ter Stegen joins an lengthy injury list also consisting of Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, Ronald Araujo and Fermin Lopez.

Ferran Torres is available after serving his one-game suspension in the Villarreal rout.

Barcelona predicted lineup vs Getafe (4-2-3-1): Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Balde; Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Raphinha, Torres; Lewandowski.

The visitors' injury concerns pale in comparison to their hosts', but Bordelas will likely be without Nabil Aberdin due to a muscle issue and Alvaro Rodriguez, who's nursing an ankle problem.

Aberdin has missed the previous three games and is likely to return at the start of October, while former Real Madrid starlet Rodriguez is still waiting to make his Getafe debut.

Former Barcelona winger Carles Perez is in contention to start on Wednesday night, but Barca will primarily be concerned with shutting down striker Borja Mayoral.

Getafe predicted lineup vs Barcelona (5-4-1): Soria; Iglesias, Djene, Berrocal, Alderete, Rico; Perez, Uche, Milla, Sola; Mayoral.

Bordelas' Getafe were once feared by La Liga's best, with their steely defence and ruggedness across the board rendering them a nightmare to play against - especially on their home patch.

However, Barcelona, despite their injuries, have no reason to fear any outfit, let alone a Getafe team without a win in La Liga. Flick's outfit are playing with a real swagger right now, and it's hard to envisage anything but a comfortable triumph for the league leaders on Wednesday night.

Prediction: Barcelona 2-0 Getafe
