Harry Kane became the highest-scoring Englishman in UEFA Champions League history on Tuesday during Bayern Munich's 9-2 thrashing of Dinamo Zagreb.

The striker took his all-time tally to 33 with four goals at the Allianz Arena - three of them coming from the penalty spot.

Those strikes ensured Kane moved well ahead of Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney as the competitions' all-time leading Englishman. Kane went into Tuesday's match trailing Rooney 29 to 30, but ended the evening three goals ahead of the former forward.

Speaking to DAZN post-match, Kane reflected on a 'crazy' night in which Bayern also set the record for the most goals scored in a single Champions League game.

"Amazing game, a bit of a crazy game for sure. To score all those goals in the end was a great night," Kane said.

"To be honest, after the second [penalty] I didn't really know what to do with the third one, but thankfully I was able to put it away."

Kane's four-goal haul this midweek took his tally with Bayern to 53 in only 50 matches across all competitions.

Of Kane's 33 Champions League goals, 12 have come for Bayern since his 2023 move from boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur.

The England captain scored 21 for Spurs during five seasons in Europe's elite club competition, with his first coming in 2016. In addition to his 33 Champions League goals, Kane has also snagged an impressive 24 across the Europa League and Conference League, all of which came with Tottenham.
