It seems like PlayStation Plus is losing quite a few of its games, and it's unclear why they're leaving the subscription service.

According to the "Last chance to play" section on the PlayStation Plus menu on PSN, there are several notable games under it. It also seems like the section differs between regions:

It's currently unknown why these games are being removed, with the exception of NBA 2K24, which comes shortly before the launch of NBA 2K25. The game is also being removed from Xbox Game Pass on August 31. However, the rest of the games listed, at the time of this writing, will disappear in about an hour. Unlike Microsoft, which consistently lets players know what games will leave Xbox Game Pass and when, PlayStation hasn't brought much attention to this.

August 2024's PlayStation Plus free games lineup includes Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. This month, Premium and Extra subscribers also now get access to games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Wild Hearts, Cult of the Lamb, and Watch Dogs 2.
