Arsenal are making further strides to bolster their attacking ranks this summer transfer window, as it's been revealed they are close to signing Sweden international Rosa Kafaji.
The 21-year-old plays for BK Hacken, and since joining in 2022, has created quite the reputation for herself. Last season, she scored five goals in twelve games, successfuly turning the head of Sweden manager Peter Gerhardsson.
According to Tim Stillman of Arseblog, there is "confidence" that the Gunners will sign Kafaji, despite persistent interest from Europe's other top clubs, including Barcelona, Lyon and Chelsea.
If Arsenal do manage to get the deal over the line, it will see Kafaji teaming up with new signing and Spain international Mariona Caldentey in north London. The club have only made one signing so far this summer transfer window, which opened in the middle of June.
Fans will no doubt be keen to see Arsenal ramp up their activity, as they look to build upon their third place finish from last season. Despite the consistent placing, some critics have criticised the club for their lack of improvement over the previous few campaigns.
During the 2023/24 season, hopes of progressing in the Champions League were shattered for Arsenal after they were knocked out in the qualifying rounds by Paris FC in a penalty shootout.
However, they were able to defend their Conti Cup title, still bringing in one piece of silverware.
As a result, head coach Jonas Eidevall's future has been brought into question, with many debating his ability to manage the team effectively. As he prepares to enter his fourth campaign leading the club, he's certainly under pressure to deliver more than he has so far.
All eyes will be on Arsenal from now until the end of the transfer window to see who else they are able to bring onboard, as the once dominant Gunners target a first WSL title since 2019.
