Your adventure in the Lands Between in Elden Ring culminates in a battle against a tough foe: one who has attained an almost-mythical status. However, this is just one part of an even bigger encounter. Here's our guide on how to defeat Radagon in Elden Ring. Likewise, please note that this article contains spoilers.
How to defeat Radagon of the Golden Order in Elden Ring
The Elden Ring Radagon boss fight takes place in Leyndell. Your trek through the Mountaintops of the Giants and Crumbling Farum Azula has turned this glistening city into an Ashen Capital.
Once you reach the Queen's Bedchamber Site of Grace, you'll have to do battle against Godfrey/Hoarah Lux. Another Site of Grace will be unlocked, and you'll be able to enter the Erdtree sanctum proper afterward.
General tips when facing Radagon
Here are some tips for the Elden Ring Radagon encounter:
- It's always a good idea to have high HP--40 Vigor is okay, but reaching the 60-Vigor mark is better.
- Radagon has several holy-infused abilities. Your best bet is to equip the Haligdrake Talisman (higher-tier variants are better). Likewise, owners of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC who've yet to complete the base game's campaign can venture into Scaduview/Hinterlands to pick up the Golden Braid accessory in the Shaman Village. It grants the highest holy resistance value among all talismans.
- Consumables like the Holyproof Dried Liver and spells like Divine Fortification are also useful.
- The best spirit ash summons for this battle are single-entity specters, preferably those who are armored or are fast enough, such as Mimic Tear, Black Knife Tiche, or Banished Knight Oleg.
- Note that the Radagon bout is just the first phase. Once defeated, you will face a different opponent. If you use a spirit ash summon during the Radagon fight, it will still be around for the second phase if it managed to survive.
Radagon boss fight
Radagon has multiple holy-infused abilities, including:
- A single spear throw that explodes after a short delay. He can also throw multiple spears that explode.
- A maneuver where he floats around before smashing you with his hammer.
- He can also strike the ground with his hammer several times, all of which create a shockwave with a large area-of-effect (AoE).
- He can create a glowing aura on the ground, which depletes the health of anyone standing within its radius.
- Radagon's grab attack must be avoided at all costs, as it's a multi-hit sequence that deals tremendous damage.
- Moreover, Radagon can periodically teleport, which can be confusing when he reappears to strike you down.
Although Radagon is one tough customer, he's susceptible to fire and magic damage--just don't bother using holy-based attacks against him. Certain weapons, such as the Blasphemous Blade, trigger a flaming explosion, while Burn O Flame (obtained if you exchange it for the Remembrance of the Fire Giant) creates scorching pillars in an area. In our case, we mostly just spammed Night Comet with the Staff of Loss equipped. You can learn about other viable armaments in our best weapons guide.
Radagon rewards
Once you beat Radagon in Elden Ring, a cutscene will play. You'll then find yourself in a separate arena, and in front of you is the real final boss of the base game. We don't want to spoil the details here, but we do have to warn you that perishing during this bout means that you have to fight Radagon once more--your battle against him is the first phase, after all. Upon defeating that opponent, you'll receive the Elden Remembrance, which can be exchanged for either of these two rewards:
- Marika's Hammer:
- Type: Hammer
- Skill: Gold Breaker
- Scaling: Str D, Dex D, and Fai D
- Attribute requirements: Str 20, Dex 12, and Fai 19
- Sacred Relic Sword:
- Type: Greatsword
- Skill: Wave of Gold
- Scaling: Str E, Dex D, and Fai D
- Attribute requirements: Str 14, Dex 24, and Fai 22
That does it for our guide on how to defeat Radagon in Elden Ring. Now that you're done with the base game's campaign, it's up to you if you want to continue exploring the Lands Between or maybe jump into New Game Plus. Alternatively, you can start the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC if you haven't done so already.
