From a cheating baby daddy to a highly-publicized divorce, Khloé Kardashian has been through a lot in her lifetime. Despite enduring several public scandals, the reality star reveals in this week’s episode of The Kardashians why she doesn’t go to therapy.
According to Kardashian, she’s gone to “three or four” different therapists — but none of them have clicked.
“I had to see a therapist for Tatum’s pregnancy,” Kardashian tells bestie Malika Haqq, referring to her son, Tatum, whom she welcomed via surrogate in 2022. “But I’ve never connected. She just listens. I’m like, ‘I just told you my whole life story. Every dark, demonic thing. And you’re just gonna be like, ‘OK.’”
Kardashian insists that she’s “never gotten any guidance” from a professional — and that she was once told by a therapist that she “didn’t need therapy” because she processes things “so matter of fact.”
“It was a strange encounter,” she says. “I was like, ‘My husband — I found him at a drug den in a motel.’ I was saying something. But she was like, ‘So, do you get upset?’ I was like, ‘No. I was super calm.’ She’s like, ‘Do you feel angry?’ I was like, ‘No.’ She was like, ‘I don’t really think you need me.’”
She continues, “I was like, ‘What? Is she firing me?’ I couldn’t really understand. Are you breaking up with me? I didn’t understand what was happening but I think I got broken up with by a therapist.”
Kardashian was, of course, referring to her marriage to former NBA player Lamar Odom. The two wed in 2009 in an episode of E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians in the midst of their whirlwind romance. However, she filed for divorce in 2013 following reports of infidelity.
But before their divorce was finalized, Odom suffered a near-fatal overdose at a Las Vegas brothel in 2015. He revealed later on that he had 12 seizures and six strokes, his lungs collapsed and his kidneys ruptured.
Kardashian stayed by his side through the traumatic event, though they eventually finalized their divorce in 2016.
New episodes of The Kardashians air every Thursday on Hulu.
