Virtual reality has come a long way from the bulky hardware of yesteryear, and for Amazon Prime Day, you can step into a new world with this deal on the HTC Vive Pro 2. This model hardly ever gets a discount, but for the next few days, you can save $250 off its regular price and score one for $550. You can also grab a deluxe headstrap to go with this purchase, so that you can enjoy 360-degree realistic sound.

The Prime Day discount puts the HTC Vive Pro 2 roughly on par with the Meta Quest 3, and while there are some drawbacks, overall, this is a powerful alternative to consider for your VR adventures. There's some powerful hardware inside of the HTC Vive Pro 2, as it offers 5K resolution split across two 2,448 x 2,448 lenses, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a 120-degree field of vision. The main drawback to this headset is that it's a tethered model when compared to the wireless design of the Quest 3 and setting it up can take some time, and the controllers are sold separately.
If you're fine with that--and you're probably already an advocate for VR gaming--then this headset easily offers a premium experience. If you're looking to go all in on this model, the HTC Vive Pro 2 Station has also been heavily discounted from $1,400 to $1,000. This includes the headset, high-tech controllers, and base stations to give you 360-degree tracking.
The other VR headset alternatives to consider here are the aforementioned Quest 3--the 128GB wireless model with two controllers has an MSRP of $500--or the PlayStation VR 2 headset and controllers. While this was first designed to work with PS5 consoles, Sony recently announced that it will be releasing a PlayStation VR 2 PC adapter on August 7 at select retailers, priced at $60.
These HTC Vive Pro 2 Prime Day price cuts will only be available for a limited time, so grab them while you can. And don't forget to check GameSpot's Prime Day hub to see the latest deals.
