Dragon Quest Monsters: the Dark Prince
Dragon Quest Monsters: the Dark Prince

Released late last year--and with seemingly very little buzz behind it--Dragon Quest: The Dark Prince is a creature-collecting game in which you play as the antagonist from Dragon Quest IV, Psaro. Cursed and unable to harm anything with monster blood, Psaro quickly discovers a loophole that allows monsters under his control to unleash some violence on his behalf. From there, Psaro embarks on a quest to capture more powerful creatures and combine them into new forms using his synthesis powers.

There are over 500 monsters to scout, battle, and assist you on your journey, and when they're not powerful enough, you can create unique fusions to help you survive the dangerous environments of Nadiria. On GameSpot's sister site Metacritic, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince has an average metascore of 72 from 39 reviews.

This isn't the only fantasy game that has received a big discount before Prime Day, as you can grab some big deals on a few other popular titles. After launching a few months ago, the critically acclaimed sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is just $55 and the action-packed Final Fantasy 16 is available for is best price yet on PS5, $30. Octopath Traveler 2 has also been discounted to $30 for Switch, Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a fun blend of retro JRPG fun with modern conveniences, especially at its special price of $30.
