Since its release last fall, the Meta Quest 3 has largely held its $500 price point, but you can finally get a substantial discount on the impressive wireless headset. As part of Walmart's big sales event running this week ahead of Amazon Prime Day, the 128GB Meta Quest 3 is discounted from $500 to $429. Amazon is matching this deal, though we wouldn't be surprised to see the headset sell out before long.

Arguably the best VR headset on the market, the Meta Quest 3 combines powerful hardware with an easy-to-use interface and a terrific library of content. Games like Tetris Effect: Connected and Pistol Whip run very well on the headset, and if you're looking to get a good sweat in, you can't go wrong with a few rounds of Les Mills Body Combat. The other nice thing about the Quest 3 is that the controllers don't have tracking rings around them, making them easier to grip and use for play sessions.

You might want to consider picking up a Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap as well, just for extra comfort, or if you feel like upgrading the headset, the Elite Strap with battery add-on is a very good investment for long VR sessions.

We're seeing a lot of other great gaming deals right at Walmart, like the premium DualSense Edge controller for $175 and several Nintendo Switch games--The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Maker 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe--for just $30 each. Sticking with Nintendo, you can also pick up an Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo Switch Lite for $159 (normally $200) and Super Mario Bros. Wonder is on sale for $45.

If you're looking for something more retro-inspired, the Arcade1Up Street Fighter 2 cabinet is $250 (normally $300) and is a great conversation starter for fighting game fans. In addition to its good looks, it comes with a selection of Street Fighter games and several other Capcom classics.
