Chelsea have struck a deal to sign Atlanta United left-back Caleb Wiley, a report has revealed.
Talks between the two clubs were struck up earlier this month and Wiley had been expected to sign on with Chelsea's sister side Strasbourg, who are also under the BlueCo 22 ownership.
However, according to The Athletic, Wiley will formally sign on with Chelsea, who have agreed a fee of £8.5m ($10.9m), before heading to Strasbourg on loan next season.
The agent of winger Oscar Perea, who joined Strasbourg earlier this summer, recently revealed that he conducted his negotiations with Chelsea officials before the deal was signed off by BlueCo 22, who have been busy recruiting young talents for both their sides this summer.
Wiley, 19, will represent the United States at this summer's Olympic Games after missing out on a spot in the Copa America squad. He has two USMNT caps to his name.
Should Wiley complete his move to Chelsea, he could become the Blues' sixth signing of the summer, following on from Tosin Adarabioyo, Estevao Willian, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Blues are also closing in on a deal to sign versatile Basel star Renato Veiga. Ahead of a proposed €14m (£11.8m), the 20-year-old began his medical with Chelsea on Monday and is expected to be confirmed as a new signing later this week.
Chelsea won't finish there, with 19-year-old Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino also set to join.
The Argentina youth international is expected to remain with Boca for the next 12 months, although reports suggest he could be loaned to Strasbourg in January 2025.
