On Tuesday, Apple released new firmware updates for nearly all of its AirPods models and certain Beats devices.
AirPods Max, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, and the original AirPods Max have all received a firmware update with the build number 6A326. The original AirPods have received firmware version 6.8.8, while Apple issued firmware update 6.8.8 for AirPods Pro 2.
Certain Beats devices have also received an update. The latest available firmware version for both the Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro has the build number 6F8.
As Apple hasn't released any release notes for this latest firmware update, the update likely includes minor bug fixes and other quality-of-life improvements. A more substantial firmware update is likely to roll out later this year with the release of iOS 18.
The new firmware update is installed automatically, as there is no mechanism to force an update manually. The firmware will install by itself as long as the AirPods are in a charging case and connected to an iOS device.
AirPods users can check the current firmware for audio accessories within the Settings app.
