Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's first season, Season of the Jokes, is now live, adding Batman villain the Joker as a new playable character, another Elseworlds dimension to explore, and several new Legendary and Notorious-class weapons.

This version of the Joker hails from a different dimension in the DC Multiverse and is very different from the deceased version who menaced Batman in the Arkham games, although both villains do have a theatrical personality and love prop comedy, especially when said props are explosives.

The new Elseworld dresses Metropolis up as a version of the city viewed through the warped lens of the Joker, and you can also experiment with a Poison status effect. This deals damage over time and reduces the amount of damage that poisoned enemies can inflict on you, but they will drop fewer shields when harvested. Buildcrafters can experiment with the new Fear Bonus on Infamy Sets, adding extra power to this effect when they reach higher tiers.

These are inspired by some of the more disturbing DC villains, like Scarecrow, Dr. Poison, and the Mad Hatter. A nightmare-inducing set can stack Fear and Horror on your enemies to keep them terrified of you.

For the new weapons, some of the highlights include items inspired by the Mad Hatter, Polka-Dot Man, and Reverse Flash, and Intergang will debut as a new weapons manufacturer. The Metropolis gang's weapons pack a punch when used up close and they shoot multiple projectiles with every shot, making them ideal for close-quarters specialists. Finally, Season 1 will see the debut of the Suicide Squad battle pass. This costs 1,000 LuthorCoins--$10 when purchased online--and allows players to unlock new outfits, color swatches, emotes, expressions, and banners across 76 tiers.

In a February financial call, Warner Bros. Discovery said that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had fallen short of its expectations since it launched, but the company still plans to double down on free-to-play and mobile games in the future.
