Square Enix has announced that the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Dawntrail, will launch on July 2. Those who preorder it will be given early access on June 28.
Preorders for the expansion cost $40 and will open up on March 26. Preorder bonuses also include a Wind-Up Zidane minion, which is just a vanity pet, and a pair of Azeyma's Earrings, which grants a 30% EXP boost for players level 1-90. They are only equippable for Disciples of War or Magic classes and jobs.

The Square Enix Store-exclusive Collector's Edition costs $215 and has many references to Final Fantasy IX. Producer Naoki Yoshida made sure to mention this fact at PAX East 2024, but said that the reason for adding them is a secret. However, a report from Gematsu states that a Final Fantasy IX remake is currently in development.
When Yoshida revealed the release date, he jokingly called out the release date for Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which launches on June 21. He said that he would give players one week to play it before Dawntrail launches on June 28 for those with early access. Atlus also moved up Shin Megami Tense V: Vengeance's release date by one week, presumably to avoid Shadow of the Erdtree.
Final Fantasy XIV recently launched on Xbox Series X|S on March 21 and requires a Game Pass subscription to play.
