Apple is hoping to increase the number of subscribers to the MLS Season Pass, by alerting potential viewers to an offer of a free month's access.
The Major League Soccer Season Pass returned to Apple TV on January 29, allowing users in over 100 countries to watch the 2024 season. While many fans will have already considered the subscription, Apple's trying to get even more.
In emails and push notifications to users sent on Saturday, reports 9to5Mac, soccer fans are being informed about a one-month-free trial promotion for the MLS Season Pass.
The terms of the offer state it is valid in the United States and is redeemable by "qualified returning subscribers only." The trial code expires on April 6, 2024, and once the month-long trial has concluded, takers will be charged $14.99 per month to their Apple ID unless they cancel.
This is a similar offer to one provided in May 2023, complete with the "qualified returning subscribers" element. The difference here is that it is being provided at the start of the season.
The Season Pass provides access to every MLS game broadcast without any blackouts. It also includes in-depth coverage and analysis, exclusive content, the Leagues Cup, MLS All-Star, and Audi MLS Cup Playoff games, and a whip-around show for Spanish-speaking fans.
For the second season, the Multiview feature for the Apple TV 4K has been expanded to iPad, so users can watch up to four games simultaneously on the tablet. Apple has also rolled out support for the Apple Vision Pro.
The usual pricing for the MLS Season Pass is $14.99 per month or $99 for the whole season, though Apple TV+ subscribers can get the annual pass discounted to $79.
