Jimmy Kimmel dubbed Donald Trump “St. Valencrime” on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the former president penned an odd Valentine’s Day message to his wife.
“The closest Trump got to a Valentine was an email he sent to his supporters,” Kimmel explained. “Even graphically, it looks like a ransom letter—which I guess is fitting given Melania’s current situation.”
The email to his supporters — which had the subject line “I love you, Melania!”— was written in a myriad of fonts and colors, proclaiming, “VALENTINE’S DAY ALERT.”
“Dear Melania, I LOVE YOU!” the letter reads. “Even after every single INDICTMENT, ARREST, AND WITCH HUNT, you never left my side.”
How romantic!
“I think that’s a line from The Notebook, isn’t it,” Kimmel joked.
The letter continues, “You’ve always supported me through everything. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without your guidance, kindness, and warmth,” to which Kimmel responded with a laugh.
“Don’t blame her for what happened to you,” he said.
Kimmel also noted that the email included a message box where supporters could send some “kind” words to Melania, demanding, “WE WANT 100,000 RESPONSES NOW!”
Supporters also had the option of donating $20.24 to Trump’s campaign, or to “St. Valencrime’s legal defense fund.”
“What a lovely and romantic gesture,” Kimmel said.
The bizarre email came after Trump tweeted, “BIDEN IS NOT TOO OLD, HE’S TOO INCOMPETENT.” Kimmel joked this was “as close as he gets to telling somebody he loves them.”
