Last year, Sega and Atlus dropped the Etrian Odyssey Origins collection, which includes enhanced ports of the first three cult-classic dungeon RPGs for Nintendo Switch and PC. While the collection is a great way to revisit the series or try it out for the first time, its $80 price tag was even more intimidating than the deadly labyrinths you explore in these games. Thankfully, the Nintendo Switch version is a whopping 50% off for a limited time at select retailers, while PC players can snag the collection in a special online deal that comes with a free extra game.
Nintendo Switch owners can grab digital versions of the Etrian Odyssey HD Origins Collection for just $39 at Walmart (normally $80). The game is just one of many digital Switch titles currently on sale at Walmart.
The Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is also available for $40 at Amazon and the Nintendo eShop (in the Jump-start January sale), but you save a dollar if you buy at Walmart. The standalone HD versions of Etrian Odyssey 1, 2, and 3 are also available for $20 apiece (normally $40 each) at the eShop, but buying the full collection is the better deal if you plan to play all three. Either way, these are the lowest prices we've seen for these dungeon crawlers, so grab them while you can.
While the 50% discount is exclusive to the digital Switch version, the PC version of the Etrian Odyssey Origins collection is $72 at Fanatical (was $80), and you get a free bonus game or digital coupon with Fanatical's January Savers Scratchcard deal. You also get a 5%-off code to use on your next Fanatical order.
Etrian Odyssey is one of the best dungeon-crawling RPG series of all time. While the minimalist story presentation and challenging gameplay can be intimidating, the Origins Collection versions include all-new difficulty settings and quality-of-life changes that make these deep, engrossing RPGs much more approachable for newcomers. These sales are the perfect opportunity to give the series a shot.
Etrian Odyssey isn't the only Atlus RPG series seeing major discounts right now. Multiple Persona 5 titles are on sale in the lead-up to Persona 3 Reload's release on February 2, including 50%-off Persona 5 Tactica on all consoles.
Disclosure: GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom.
