After a brief snag that caused a delay, Starfield’s first beta update is finally here. Containing more than 100 fixes, there’s a lot to test drive in this first patch.

While Starfield is vast and full of main and side quests, several of them have been plagued by stubborn bugs since launch. The most recent update aims to fix well over a dozen quest bugs to satisfy completionists and other stargazers alike. We’ve gathered up all the quests addressed in the first beta update, with details on where to find them if you’re eager to test out the fixes yourself.

Starfield beta update quest fixes (and where to find them)
Quest: Absolute Power
Where to find: Complete “The Best There Is” from the Crimson Fleet quests
Fix: Fixed missing slate in the safe preventing from completing the optional objective “Locate Evidence to Extort Ayumi Komiko”.
Quest: Background Checks
Where to find: Acquired while playing the “Top Secrets” quest from Ryujin
Fix: Fixed possible control-lock that could occur if caught by security.
Quest: Derelict Ship
Where to find: Random encounter
Fix: Fixed an issue preventing the player from reaching the pilot seat if they did not have access to advanced locks.
Quest: Drinks on the House
Where to find: Talk to Nyssa Marcano after completing the “Liquid Assets” quest in New Atlantis
Fix: Fixed rare occurrence where the door to Sub 12 could remain locked.
Quest: Echoes of the Past
Where to find: Complete “Rook Meets King” from the Crimson Fleet quests
Fix: Fixed Delgado getting stuck at bottom of stairs during “Continue Exploring the Lock” that could occur if The Lock was left during Delgado’s history dialogue.
Fix 2: Resolved an issue that could cause Mathis’ and Delgado’s guns to be invisible.
Quest: Eye of the Storm
Where to find: Complete “Absolute Power” from the Crimson Fleet quests
Fix: Fixed an issue that could cause data transfer to not start after placing the Data Core.
Fix 2: Fixed an issue where the docking prompt would be missing on the Legacy ship if the player undocked with the Legacy and then reloaded a save before having started the mission.
Quest: Executive Level
Where to find: Complete “Sabotage” from the Ryujin quests
Fix: Fixed an issue where players could get stuck on a chair in the Ryujin Industries HQ conference room.
Quest: Failure to Communicate
Where to find: Travel to Lopez’s Farm on Indum I in the Indum System
Fix: Fixed an issue that prevented the player from finishing the quest if they downed all the members of the defense pact (Alban Lopez, Jacquelyn Lemaire, and Chanda Banda).
Quest: Further Into the Unknown
Where to find: Speak to Vladimir after the “Starborn” quest
Fix: Fixed a rare crash that could occur when trying to dock with The Eye.
Quest: Hostile Intelligence
Where to find: Complete “War Relics” from the UC Vanguard quests
Fix: Fixed blocked doors in the Steam Tunnels room where the Terrormorph transformation occurs.
Quest: Into the Unknown
Where to find: Speak to Vladimir on the Eye once you finish “Back to Vectera”
Fix: Fixed a rare issue that could prevent the quest from starting after completing The Old Neighborhood.
Fix 2: Fixed a rare issue where a Temple location might not populate when receiving the “Go to” objective.

Where to find: Complete “Eye of the Storm” from the Crimson Fleet quests
Fix: Fixed an issue that could prevent interacting with Delgado when he was behind the glass inside in the command center of The Key.
Fix 2: Fixed a debris pile where the player could become stuck while trying to reach the Mess Hall.

Where to find: Speak with Noel in The Lodge after “High Price to Pay”
Fix: Fixed a dialogue between Sarah and Walter not playing at The Lodge.
Quest: No Sudden Moves

Fix: Fixed companions not following the player during personal quests.

Where to find: Complete “Shadows In Neon” from the Freestar Rangers quests
Fix: Fixed various issues related to Mei Devine becoming inaccessible, the objective updated to “Listen to Mei Devine’s Introduction”.
Fix 2: Fixed a possible control lock when sitting at the table to talk to Jade MacMillan.
Quest: One Small Step
Where to find: First quest in the game
Fix: Fixed a rare issue that could prevent Lin / Heller from exiting the airlock.
Quest: Operation Starseed
Where to find: Travel to Charybdis III, in the Charybdis system and finish “Investigate Distress Call Activity”
Fix: Fixed a bad view that could occur if the Beagle was boarded after a long idle.
Quest: Power From Beyond
Where to find: Talk to Vladimir after finishing “Into the Unknown”
Fix: Fixed an issue that caused missing Starborn temples and scanner disturbances that could prevent obtaining all Starborn powers from that universe.
Quest: Rough Landings
Where to find: talk to Marko Jansen in Akila City on Akila in the Cheyenne system
Fix: Resolved an issue that could occur during the “Meet up with Milena Axelrod” objective that could prevent ships from appearing at the desired location.
Quest: Shadows in Neon
Where to find: Finish “Where Hope Is Built” from the Freestar Rangers quests
Fix: Fixed an issue that could occur when repeatedly using the door to Jaylen Pryce’s office before he progressed to Neon Core.
Quest: Supra et Ultra
Where to find: Register for the UC Vanguard after arriving in New Atlantis for the first time
FIx: Fixed a control lock that could occur when entering the Flight Simulator while a guard is attempting arrest.
Quest: Tapping the Grid
Where to find: Talk to Louisa Reyez on New Atlantis
Fix: Fixed inaccessible junction boxes that could occur after the Hunter attacks the Lodge.
Quest: The Best There Is

Fix: Fixed an issue that could prevent objective from advancing when talking to Naeva and Jasmine in the engineering room.
Quest: The Empty Nest
Where to find: Finish “The Old Neighborhood” quest
Fix: Fixed and issue that could cause Sam Coe’s gun to be invisible when inside Jacob’s house.
Quest: Heart of Mars
Where to find: Speak to Laylah in the mines of Cydonia on Mars
Fix: Fixed another location that could potentially prevent recovering The Heart of Mars.
Quest: The Pale Lady
Where to find: Random encounter
Fix: Fixed rare case of inaccessible ship crew log data slate making it impossible to complete the encounter.
Quest: Top of the L.I.S.T.
Where to find: Speak with Phil Hill in Cydonia on Mars
Fix: Phil Hill should now accept survey data for Sumati.

Where to find: Complete “The Devils You Know” from the UC Vanguard quests
Fix: Resolved an issue that could prevent Kaiser from moving to the mission site.

Fix: Fixed a crash that could occur with a specific set of player behaviors.
Other fixes
Bethesda addressed more than stuck quest progress in the latest beta update. Fixes include improved widescreen support, better textures, reflections, and shadows in various areas, and fixes to FSR2 and DLSS among others. Check out the full details in Bethesda’s patch notes here.
