As the debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 inches closer--and other gaming companies get in on the sunset-colored teaser fun--a small video has surfaced on Tiktok reportedly showing footage of the upcoming game's cityscape. It seems that video may have come from within, as the source has been reported as the son of a Rockstar Games employee.
According to Eurogamer, two videos surfaced on Tiktok from a throwaway account, with both giving brief looks at what they claim to be the "first look at GTA6." Not much can be gleaned from the videos, as both show the same section of the same urban area with a highway running through it.
A short time later, a GTA-focused site called GTABase.com reported on X that in a "totally unexpected turn of events, it appears the ‘leaked’ footage has come from the son of a Rockstar Games employee." Later, after a photo surfaced of the son with his father claiming to be proof of the leaker's identity, GTABase said that the photo is possibly "not the son of the employee, or that the source of this leak is from a third-party attempting to pose as such.
This is not the first time GTA VI has been impacted by leaks, as a massive dump of footage and screenshots surfaced in September 2022, which resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old man. Last month, Rockstar Games fueled excitement for GTA VI by confirming the first trailer would debut "in early December," with the company confirming the actual premiere date last week.
Grand Theft Auto 6's first trailer is scheduled to release December 5 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET. The game will be set in Vice City--the GTA equivalent of Miami.
