On top of its announced $1 donation to the Global Fund per qualifying purchase, Apple is now also donating all proceeds from selected games.
Apple has been marking World AIDS Day since 2006, with donations and at times with Apple Stores turning red. For 2023, the company announced that until December 8, it would donate $1 for every Apple Store purchase made with Apple Pay.
Now, however, it's launched a further donation scheme, running from December 1 to December 4, 2023.
"This year, Apple is making it both easy and fun to support (RED) and the Global Fund with customer purchases," said the firm in a statement. "Beginning today through December 4, the App Store will donate all proceeds from select, exclusive in-app purchases for three amazing games — MONOPOLY GO!, Gardenscapes, and EA Sports FC Mobile — to the Global Fund, including playful avatars, cool shields, and star soccer players."
"In the U.S., Apple Books readers can browse a special collection of fiction and nonfiction books and audiobooks from around the world that amplify the multiplicity of voices in the fight for AIDS awareness and advocacy," it continues. "Listeners can dive into the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the U.S. and abroad, and hear stories from activists, artists, and everyday people, on Apple Podcasts."
So far Apple has raised over a quarter of a billion dollars for the Global Fund through (PRODUCT)RED sales. This year Apple says that its PRODUCT(RED) version of the Apple Watch Series 9 will now gain a red version of the new Palette and Solar Analog watch faces.
