Inter Miami will face El Salvador in a preseason friendly at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador on Friday, January 19.
The match stands as the team’s first exhibition match of the 2024 preseason.
“We’re excited to start announcing our preseason plans and preparations ahead of a thrilling 2024 campaign," Inter Miami chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson said in a release.
"We look forward to facing the El Salvador national team in what will be a good first test for our squad against the best players from the country."
El Salvador will prove to be an interesting opponent for Miami, ranking number 78 in the most recent FIFA list. The national team, currently led by Spanish manager Rubén de la Barrera recently earned a pair of draws in November friendlies against Curaçao after competing in the Concacaf Gold Cup and Nations League tournaments earlier this year.
The match precedes a busy 2024 campaign for Inter Miami, as the Herons prepare to participate in the Concacaf Champions League, Major League Soccer regular season, Leagues Cup and Open Cup. The upcoming preseason stands as the first for Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba with Inter Miami, after arriving during the Summer transfer window.
The South Florida team is expected to announce more friendlies in the upcoming weeks.
