So, the story goes like this. Jordan Spieth was at home, probably making breakfast for his son, or was on the field testing his wrist, when his regular caddie Michael Greller told him he won’t loop for the American in the upcoming Hero World Challenge. We can guess the American golfer was taken aback at first. But he did play along enthusiastically after he got to know the deal.

Greller, who has been on Spieth’s bag for over a decade, cut a deal with Michael Leyendecker. The latter had to guzzle a beer every time the American Pro makes a birdie. Sounds good? Can’t tell about you, but for Spieth’s friend, it did. After all, it’s a caddie’s job to walk the extra mile for their golfers. As Spieth fluttered birdies and eagles one after another, the netizens kept counting the lagers for Leyendecker.

It started back in 2017, when his regular bagman, Michael Greller took a leave during the 2017 Hero World Challenge. Spieth picked his high school golf buddy, Eric Leyendecker in his absence. No one knows what magic he did, but the 30-year-old American golfer reached his best spot at no. 3 that year.
So, Greller thought it would be a good idea to bring his friend back again this year. Although they planned this in May, their employer only got to know about it in October. The rule of the game was, that Leyendecker would drink a beer during the Dallas Cowboys match, for every birdie the US pro made in the morning.

Spieth thought it would be fun to get his friend plastered when they sit for the game. The 13-time PGA Tour winner went on to make eight birdies. But, if it’s one beer for a birdie, then it should be two for an eagle, right? The American golfer also carded two eagles on hole three and hole 15. A solid 12-pack for the caddie.
Hilarious backstory to Spieth's scorecard:
His buddy Eric is caddying this week. On the first hole Thursday he promised Spieth that for every birdie they made he'd drink 1 beer while they watched tonight's Cowboys game. Make an eagle? 3 beers.

The hilarious bet has left the internet in splits. But, what’s the aftermath of this? The netizens had their say; we cherry-picked the very best for you.
Spieth’s caddie is one of us
It appears American International gets fired up whenever he has his buddy looping for him. One die-hard Spieth fan wished they’d make more bets like this because he can’t wait to see the US pro back at his best.
One user, hilariously, called out the fact that Leyendecker might not be in a position to caddie for Jordan Spieth tomorrow. Who’s going to fill in the shoes of the fill-in caddie?
Don’t be surprised if the poor caddie trips over during the second round. Or, if he appears to be a little under the weather, as this fan said.
We have a David Wooderson here, folks! This user felt it’s not that difficult to chug 11 beers in 3 hours. Lemmy Kilmister would be mighty impressed!
11 beers in 3 hours? Easy Peasy.

It has made Leyendecker quite the hero among Netizens. “One of us,” echoed through the social media site, like this user said.

The Hero World Challenge has become a sort of pre-Christmas gather-around for the World’s elites. This is why it’s called the ‘silly season’ as one user was quick to point out.
