PUTRAJAYA: Two Malaysian Covid-19 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged, bringing the total of cured patients in the country to 15.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (pic) said following the two recoveries, only seven Covid-19 cases are still being treated in hospitals.
With no new Covid-19 cases, the total confirmed cases in Malaysia remains at 22 cases.
“This is good news, and we are very grateful for it.
“We congratulate all the health officials at hospitals and clinics on their hard work.
“However, although things appear to be improving we should never be complacent and must continue to observe precautionary measures.
“Just across the causeway, Singapore are faced with a more severe situation with Covid-19, ” said Dzulkefly at a press conference here.
One of the patients discharged on Wednesday (Feb 19) is the 65-year-old mother-in-law of the 41-year-old Selangor man, who is the first Malaysian to be infected with Covid-19.
The man had no travel history to China, but had recently attended a work meeting in Singapore, which also involved delegates from Wuhan, China.
Wuhan, in the Hubei province, is the epicentre of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The 65-year-old woman, together with the man’s 40-year-old sister, had contracted the virus from him over the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The sister remains warded at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar, and is still awaiting for test results of her sample.
The other patient released on Wednesday is a 31-year-old Malaysian, who works in Macau.
He was admitted at the Sungai Buloh Hospital after he tested positive for Covid-19 on Feb 9.
