The XFL kicks off its inaugural 10-week regular season this weekend with a full schedule of games for the eight founding franchises.

After Saturday's openers, Sunday's schedule begins with former Chicago Bears head coach and three-time Grey Cup winner in the CFL, Marc Trestman, leading the Tampa Bay Vipers against the New York Guardians, coached by ex-San Diego Chargers boss Kevin Gilbride.

In addition to serving as the Chicago Bears head coach in 2013 and 2014, Marc Trestman has served as offensive coordinator for five NFL teams.

The final game of the opening weekend has what looks like a mismatch on paper, at least from a name-recognition standpoint. Jonathan Hayes, the longtime Cincinnati Bengals tight ends coach, will lead the St. Louis Battlehawks into battle. They'll face the Dallas Renegades, coached by Bob Stoops — who won a national title and two college coach of the year awards at the University of Oklahoma.
