"a childhood dream come true"
A few months after Fire Emblem: Three Houses had been released on the Switch, Nintendo had to replace the voice of the male version of Blyeth, after the character's voice actor revealed he had abused and mistreated both friends and partners over the past decade.
The new voiceover for the male version of Blyeth was done by Zack Aguilar. He also ended up recording lines for the same character in the mobile hit, Fire Emblem Heroes. As you've probably worked out by now, this same voice actor is voicing the male version of Byleth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Not long after the character reveal was made official by Masahiro Sakurai, Aguilar took to Twitter to confirm the news and share his excitement:
I can’t believe I get to finally announce this today. Literally, a childhood dream come true... I VOICE BYLETH IN SMASH. I have the absolute honor to say that I returned to voice the role of Byleth for Super Smash Bros Ultimate!
And for those wondering, the female version of Byleth is once again being handled by Jeannie Tirado – the same voice actor who brought the character to life in Three Houses and Heroes. Tirado shared the following message on Twitter after the big reveal:
So excited to finally announce, I’m in Super Smash Bros Ultimate! FemByleth from Fire Emblem joins the fight. Let’s just say, her competitors are about to get SCHOOLED!
The fifth DLC fighter Byleth is planned to be released later this month on 28th January. For more details check out the character's announcement post.
