On Tuesday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted out a photo of a black t-shirt with an image of a broken glass window.
The image is a reference to Musk’s failed attempt to demonstrate the “bulletproof” strength of the glass on the Tesla Cybertruck.
The shirt is now for sale in the Tesla store for $40.
Since failing in spectacular fashion to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Tesla Cybertruck’s so-called “bulletproof glass” during a November 2019 press event, CEO Elon Musk has proven at least one thing: He can still manufacture a decent self-deprecating joke. On Tuesday, Musk tweeted out a photo of a model wearing a black cotton t-shirt with the now-familiar image of the shattered window emblazoned in the middle of it. The caption: “T-shirt is bulletproof and makes you buff.”
While Musk’s tweet alone would’ve made for a solid visual gag, Musk—always selling—included a link to the Tesla store where, of course, you can now purchase the 45-frickin-dollar black tee for yourself. “Designed for exceptional comfort and inspired by the Cybertruck unveil event,” the description reads, “the Cybertruck Bulletproof Tee is made from 100% cotton and features our signature Cybertruck icon on the back. (The shirt, it turns out, is just one of a surprisingly vast array of items available in the auto company’s store, which also sells hoodies, hats, sweatshirts, and yes, baby onesies.)
As for that t-shirt, unfortunately Musk and his engineers will also need to go back to the drawing board with this design, too, if they actually expect it to stop a lead projectile or erase your winter weight. Until then, if you have $45 you don’t know what to do with—and a willingness to wildly adjust your expectations—you can place an order for yourself. The jacked biceps and six-pack abs, we’re afraid, still come separately.
