A record-setting season for Lamar Jackson is earning him well-deserved recognition, and there's more to come.

The Pro Football Writers Association has named Jackson both its 2019 Most Valuable Player and its Offensive Player of the Year. Jackson became the first player in NFL history to pass for more than 3,000 yards and to rush for more than 1,000 yards in the same season.

Jackson's 1,206 yards on the ground set the single-season rushing record by a quarterback. He had five games with at least 100 yards rushing, the most by a quarterback in one year.

With a league-leading 36 touchdown passes, Jackson led the Ravens to the NFL's best record (14-2) and a second straight AFC North championship. Jackson also led the league in total touchdowns (43) and rushing average (6.9 yards per carry), and he had the most games with five touchdown passes (three).

Twice this season, Jackson had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 – Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins and Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals. For the season, Jackson completed 265 of 401 passes (66.1 percent) for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions (113.3 quarterback rating).

Jackson is expected to win the NFL' Most Valuable Player Award when it is announced Feb. 1, the night before Super Bowl 54 in South Florida. Despite the Ravens' tough playoff finish, the awards are based on regular-season performance.
