Digital payment service provider Alipay rolled out the annual bill of 2019 for users on Jan 6. People with an Alipay account can log on to the app and check their summary of transactions over the year.
"Checking your Alipay bill" quickly surged as a hot topic on various social media platforms. Web users responded with mixed attitudes — some doubted themselves, wondering "When did I become so rich?" while others mourned over their lost treasure.
The annual bill for 2019 counts your 2019 expenses in the form of a book. Users can view annual bills through their personal account in the Alipay app, or search the keyword in the app's homepage.
Netizens started to post their annual bills and compare their spending with friends and relatives. Some joked: "So I was once a rich man" and "When did I become so rich? Seriously?"
One person commented: "Friends who posted your bills, please give me more help in the future. I apologize for being bad-tempered sometimes. Let's be friends again."
What does the bill look like?
This year's Alipay annual bill is different from previous ones. In addition to the total consumption, it also lists your frequency of spending money on different occasions, such as takeaway orders, trips throughout the year and convenient public services used, which are illustrated with vivid drawings. Meanwhile, the system shows a keyword to characterize your spending behavior in 2019.
Besides the amount of money, Alipay bill lists one's frequency of joining its several specific visual activities, such as exercise, planting trees, feeding chickens and sponsoring poverty-stricken individuals.
In the last page, the user can choose a written wish from multiple options to make promises.
