NSW RFS has adamantly denied claims it is set to dismiss the volunteer firefighter who was filmed telling Prime Minister Scott Morrison to “get f***ed”.

Raging and visibly exhausted, Nelligen firefighter Paul Parker made no attempt to hide his emotion when he stared into a 7NEWS camera and delivered an expletive-riddle message to Scott Morrison.

“Tell the prime minister to go and get f***ed from Nelligen,” the 57-year-old said after battling a monster blaze that tore through several homes.

Later seen collapsed on the roadside, Parker slammed Morrison‘s previous comments that volunteer firefighters "wanted to be out there".

“That’s how much we enjoy it mate - putting our lives at risk. I do it for my local community, I do it for the township of Nelligen, and the people of Australia," he yelled.

“That’s what I do it for. I don’t do it for you Scott Morrison, I don’t do it for any of you p***ks in government.”

After the vision made headlines around the country, a Change.org petition emerged Monday morning claiming Parker was set to be dismissed from his role with the RFS.

It received almost 35,000 signatures by 12.30pm on Monday.

“What a real kick in the face… Paul had been working for days with little sleep and little food to save strangers properties, selflessly putting himself in harm’s way,” the petition read.

The hashtag #savepaul was also trending on Twitter by midday.

'Just a break'

However, an RFS spokesperson has rubbished the petition, telling 7NEWS.com.au that Parker has “been asked to take a break”.

“It was for his own welfare that he was asked to take a break [from firefighting],” the spokesperson said on Monday morning, stating he believed fatigue to be the reason.

Asked if the comments to the prime minister were a contributing factor, the spokesperson responded, “absolutely not”.
