Pope Francis apologised for “losing patience” the day after a female devotee seized the pontiff’s hand and pulled him towards her as he greeted a crowd of pilgrims at the Vatican on New Year’s Eve. Video of the incident shows a visibly angry Francis wrenching himself free by slapping at the unidentified woman’s hand during a walkabout on St Peter’s Square.
