A woman who died from her injuries after a disturbance at a suburban house in Perth's north had her three children home at the time, police say.
Homicide detectives are investigating the woman's death after police were called to a house in Clogher Street in Ridgewood, 35 kilometres north of the city's CBD, about 6:15am.
They were told a woman in her 30s had been seriously injured and taken to hospital, where she later died.
Acting Detective Superintendent Brett Ranford said the man who took the woman to hospital was in custody and helping police with their inquiries.
"However it is early into the investigation and we are still trying to establish what his role was and his relationship was with the deceased," he said.
"I understand there were three children in the house at the time. I believe the children are safe and well and in the care of family."
A cause of death has yet to be established.
Police are asking anyone with information or who saw or heard anything suspicious on Clogher Street to contact Crime Stoppers.
Man found dead in Perth park
Meanwhile, Homicide Squad detectives are also investigating the discovery of a man's body in the eastern Perth suburb of Ascot.
The man was found unresponsive by passers-by in Adachi Park on Great Eastern Highway about 8:20am.
"We are examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses," Superintendent Ranford said.
"From what we know at this stage we are concerned that it is a homicide.
"We are still trying to establish his identity."
Detectives said they would like to speak to anyone who was in the Adachi Park area this morning.
