The royal family is constantly under scrutiny, but there are a few royals who manage to always stay on the public and press’s good side. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is one such royal.

While living in the royal family can certainly be stressful from time to time, that doesn’t mean that Middleton is always reaching for sweets to help her cope. In fact, Duchess Kate is known to stick to a very strict diet and mainly eats low-carb. She likes to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and generally steers clear of very starchy foods, much like Queen Elizabeth II.

If the duchess is trying to slim down, as she did after the births of each of her three children, she reportedly chooses a raw diet. A raw diet includes standards like vegetables, but also plenty of fresh and filling snacks like almonds, tabbouleh, and goji berries.

The Duchess of Cambridge certainly has access to the freshest produce, as a member of the royal family. Still, Duchess Kate doesn’t deny herself of treats around the holiday season and indulges along with the rest of the family when it is time to sit down to the big royal family holiday feast. She probably knows that cutting out all treats would make for a boring routine.

We invite you to take a sneak peek at The Duchess of Cambridge’s #RHSChelsea ‘Back to Nature’ Garden! The woodland wilderness garden aims to get people back to nature, and highlight the benefits of the natural world on our mental and physical wellbeing. Speaking ahead of @The_RHS garden unveiling, The Duchess of Cambridge said: “In recent years I have focussed much of my work on the early years, and how instrumental they are for outcomes later in life. I believe that spending time outdoors when we are young can play a role in laying the foundations for children to become happy, healthy adults.” Some features of the #ChelseaFlowerShow garden include: 1. A swing seat hanging below the garden’s centrepiece, a high platform tree house, encouraging creative play and discovery for all generations. 2. The high platform tree house is inspired by a bird or animal nest and provides a wonderful place to retreat and look out through the trees. The treehouse is made from chestnut, with hazel, stag horn oak and larch nest cladding. 3/4. The garden is aiming to inspire interaction with the natural environment through its multi-sensory, green and blue plant scheme. The garden will be filled with incredible edibles, plants for craft activities, forest scents and a diverse range of plants, shrubs and trees of different heights and textures. The garden forms part of Her Royal Highness’s ongoing work on early childhood development and her mission to support efforts that give every child the best possible start in life. The Duchess has committed to making early childhood development the focus of her work in the years to come, and believes that providing children with the opportunity to spend time outdoors can play an important role.

When Duchess Kate and Prince William first met at university, they bonded over their shared love of outdoor sports. Even though they have three young children now, and a great deal more responsibilities, they still make time to get out and get active.

Middleton stays trim by choosing to do a lot of her exercise outside and has been spotted running and jogging, sometimes pushing a baby stroller in the process. Other outdoor activities that Middleton enjoys include rowing, swimming, and skiing.

The royal family has access to an incredible indoor gym as well, and when she doesn’t have time to commit to an entire workout, Duchess Kate will often head there to swim, do weight training, or take a spin on the elliptical machine. Of course, she also has three small children to consider, and it’s no small feat to keep up with them.

In fact, when recently asked how she manages to stay so fit, Middleton stated that she’s always “running after” her children. She and Prince William like getting their kids outside as well, and have frequently been spotted playing with their kids in parks and recreational areas.

Kate Middleton has great genetics

Recently, Express reported that Middleton has picked up a new hobby: tennis lessons at an exclusive London club. Reportedly, Duchess Kate has gotten quite good at playing, and her regular lessons have contributed to her fit and slender figure.

Still, there’s another factor that contributes to Middleton’s astonishing figure. She definitely comes from good genetics, and a quick glance at her mother, Carole Middleton, and her sister, Pippa Middleton, reveal that health and good looks certainly run in the family. Middleton is no slouch at taking care of herself, but genetics often do play a role in how quickly women can “bounce back” after children and maintain a healthy weight.
