A manhunt is underway after a 14-year-old suspected of killing college freshman Tessa Majors bolted from a car in New York City.

The teenager, who has not been named, was being driven by an adult to meet with police about the murder when he jumped out of the car and fled, according to the New York Post. The adult in the car called the police, which began searching across Harlem.

The 14-year-old is among three suspects in the death of 18-year-old Majors, who was a freshman at Barnard College. Police said that Majors, who was the victim of a botched robbery, was put in a chokehold and stabbed multiple times by the three suspects.

One of the suspects, Zyairr Davis, 13, was arrested soon after the death and charged with felony murder. Davis allegedly admitted to assisting with the robbery but denied that he stabbed the young student.

The suspect whom police are now searching for is believed to be the person who stabbed Majors.

Police arrested a third suspect on Friday. The 14-year-old was released the next day without being charged as investigators attempt to build a case against the trio.

Majors, who was an aspiring artist and musician, was found by a security guard in Morningside Park in Manhattan last week with stab wounds on multiple parts of her body. A witness reported a group of people running from the area where she was found. The park is near Barnard College, a small institution of about 2,300 undergraduates.
