The 14-year-old was being driven to the 26th Precinct, possibly by a relative or a lawyer, when he decided to make a run for it, police sources said.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was last seen fleeing on W. 125th St. toward Eighth Ave. at about 4:15 p.m.
The NYPD descended on the area en masse, searching with helicopters for about three hours, sources told The News.

Majors was jogging down steps in the park on W. 116th St. near Morningside Drive when at least three teens confronted her, and one stabbed her with a knife, said investigators who reviewed surveillance video.
