Boris Johnson is expected to minimise public appearances with President Trump next week amid concerns that the president’s visit to Britain could damage the Tories’ election prospects.

Mr Trump is to arrive in London on Monday evening for the Nato summit. He will remain in the UK until Wednesday, when he will hold a press conference before returning to America.

Jeremy Corbyn is planning to “weaponise” Mr Trump’s visit in a bid to gain ground on the Tories. He will use it to warn that the NHS will be up for sale in a post-Brexit trade deal with the US.
