After losing the Apple Cup to the University of Washington for the seventh time in a row Friday night, Washington State football coach Mike Leach wasn't in the mood for a reporter's question.
During his news conference after the Huskies beat his Cougars 31-13, Leach noted that the media were always quick to point out that Washington was a top-10 recruiting team and then were surprised when it won.
When Spokane Spokesman-Review columnist John Blanchette followed up and asked whether Washington State wasn't supposed to beat teams with higher-ranked recruiting classes, Leach pointed out that they had and he didn't care what the reporter thought.

"OK, go ahead," he added, "because you’re going to write some really nasty stuff anyway like you always do. And I don’t know which Coug way back when did something that offended you, and I don’t really care about that either. But you can live your little meager life in your little hole and write nasty things and if that makes you feel even, you go right ahead.”
