KANSAS CITY, Kan. — UPDATE, 10:20 a.m. | In a mid-morning update, police believe there was a dispute earlier in the evening at the bar that led to the shooting. Details about the dispute weren’t immediately available.

Police said the suspects were armed with handguns and fled the scene after the shooting.

In addition to the four fatalities, police say the injuries to the five other victims were not life-threatening.

UPDATE, 10 a.m. | As police continue their investigation, area political leaders are offering condolences to the victims of the shooting. Congresswoman Sharice Davids (D - 3rd District) represents the area where the shooting took place, and she tweeted her thoughts to the victims Sunday morning.

My heart breaks for everyone impacted by the senseless shooting that took place in Kansas City early this morning. Our office will continue to monitor the situation and we thank the law enforcement and first responders who are investigating this tragedy.

Senator Jerry Moran (R - Kansas) also offered his condolences.

UPDATE, 9:10 a.m. | In brief remarks to the media, Kansas City, Kansas Mayor David Alvey said the shooting was "sad for all involved."

UPDATE, 8:45 a.m. | In a police briefing, police say they have no suspect information nor a motive for the shooting.

KCK Shooting: 8 a.m. Update

UPDATE, 8:15 a.m. | Police say all four of the dead were Hispanic - one in their late 50s, one in their mid 30s and two in their mid 20s. Police estimate that 40 people were in the private club at the time of the shooting.

Authorities are investigating whether one of the suspects may have been involved in an incident at the club earlier in the evening and then returned.

Police remained on scene as of 8:30 a.m.

EARLIER | Four people were killed in an overnight shooting at a bar in Kansas City, Kansas, according to police.

Around 1:30 a.m Sunday., officers responded to a shooting at Tequila KC Bar at 10th Street and Central Avenue.

Police said the suspect(s) entered the bar and started shooting.

Four people inside the bar were killed. Five others were transported to area hospitals and believed to be in stable condition, KCK police spokesman Officer Thomas Tomasic said.

"Detectives are here and are looking at any surveillance," Tomasic told 41 Action News. "This is definitely one of those that we’re going to do everything very slowly, very methodically and correctly."

No one was in custody, and Tomasic said police did not know if there was more than one shooter. Handgun shells were found at the scene.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Kansas City also responded to the shooting.
