John Ozbilgen, who was considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Parze, was found dead in his Freehold home Friday morning. He took his own life.

Ozbilgen, 29, was facing a child pornography charge and had just been released from jail on Tuesday. His family found him in the early morning hours and contacted police.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said his death was not considered suspicious. Later Friday, his attorney, Robert Honecker Jr., confirmed Ozbilgen’s death was a suicide.

Ozbilgen last had contact with his parents inside their Freehold home around midnight Friday, according to Honecker.

Earlier that evening, he had a meeting with Honecker to discuss defense strategies on how to fight the child pornography charge. Honecker told reporters Friday morning that nothing appeared out of the ordinary with his client.

Authorities continue to search for Parze, who was last seen on Oct. 30 after she attended a psychic show with her family in New Brunswick.

Ozbilgen, who had an on-again, off-again relationship with Parze, was considered a person of interest in her disappearance, prosecutors said at a court hearing this week. He had also fired of 10 angry text messages to her the night before she disappeared, prosecutors revealed at the hearing.

Authorities have searched areas on Staten Island multiple times in connection with her disappearance. Parze’s family has also organized searches in the Freehold area.

Ozbilgen has worked in the financial services industry, online listings show, including at three firms in Staten Island. In regulatory filings, he disclosed a 2010 drug possession conviction. His latest registration as a broker, with Woodstock Financial Group, ended on Nov. 7.

He had been previously charged with assaulting Parze.
