Alabama wrapped up an uneventful 66-3 win over Western Carolina for its 10th win of the season.

A quick rundown of Nick Saban’s thoughts in the aftermath:

-- Saban liked the competitive spirit in the game. The five turnovers were big in terms of the final score.

-- “I thought Mac was pretty efficient,” Saban said of starting QB Mac Jones. “We didn’t throw it as much but made a lot of explosive plays.”

-- The one big negative was the fumble on the goal line (from Brian Robinson) late in the first half.

-- “Now we have to get focused on what’s ahead,” Saban said a week before the Iron Bowl. “I’m sure our players will be ready to do that.”

-- The 35-0 advantage Alabama had in points off turnovers was a factor, he said.

-- Saban liked the way the young defensive line played. The bigger plays came on the outside on QB boots and such. The line was controlled by Alabama all day but Saban notes the offenses they’ll face moving forward have more size than what they saw from Western Carolina.

-- Jared Mayden’s mom remembered the line-dancing competition on the recruiting visit during senior day. “Do you want to dance?” she asked Saban today during the senior day ceremony. Saban laughed.

-- Saban said DeVonta Smith is “thin built guy but isn’t frail. He doesn’t play weak. He plays strong. Some players are bigger than him but play small. “He doesn’t play small at all.” “He doesn’t have a history of get pushed around much.”

-- Tua has a good spirit that doesn’t need to be on the field to affect the team when he’s on the sideline. “It encourages them” to know the adversity Tua is overcoming, Saban said.

-- “I thought he threw the ball well,” Saban said of Jones. They knew he would have to take a few shots based on the way Western Carolina played defense. He threw some good post routes, Saban said. Overshot one deep ball but was good overall (10 for 12 passing).

-- Christian Barmore has made a lot of progress since arriving. He wasn’t the most advanced player when he arrived before redshirting last year.
